Today’s CBD post of the day. As promised, here are the 3 types or classification of CBD products on the market and why it is important.
Isolate: This is the purest form of CBD-cannabidiol. All of the THC-tetrahydrocannabinol, terpenes and other cannabinoids have been removed.
Full Spectrum: This contains CBD and other active compounds in addition to up to .3% THC.
Broad Spectrum: This contains CBD and other active compounds, but the THC has been removed.
Significance of the above. With THC removed, there are no psychotropic effects and drug testing for THC is essentially not an issue. There are drug tests that test for cannabinoids, so you must be aware of this for occupational and other drug testing concerns.
According to some studies, there are added benefits to additional cannabinoids and terpenes (active compounds) that contribute to something called the “entourage effect”, which is believed by some to improve the effectiveness of the products. (more on this later).
Finally, there is some belief and studies that also support the addition of small quantities of THC (<.3% by government laws) to further enhance effectiveness as well.
Again, there is soooooo much information out there, that it’s hard to get through the weeds (no pun intended). The general belief is that more human studies are needed to really determine how and why these products work, as well as what they are most beneficial for.
More to come! and please, if you have particular questions or issues that you are curious about, please respond and I will try to include that in my research and posts for you.
