Karen Bagnardi, MPT has practiced as a physical therapist specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy for 25 plus years, working with both the general population and elite athlete population. She earned her graduate degree in physical therapy from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and her undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.
Karen gained extensive experience working with professional athletes while working as a team leader and senior physical therapist at Henry Ford Hospital’s Center for Athletic Medicine treating professional athletes from the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Rockers, as well as several Olympic and world champion figure skaters from the Detroit Skating Club.
Karen served as the appointed team physical therapist for the Detroit Red Wings during their Stanley Cup Championship years of 1997 and 1998. Karen was also the private physical therapist for figure skater Tara Lipinski.
Karen’s experience allows her to bring to the greater Bedford area a rich knowledge of both manual and exercise based physical therapy techniques as well as differential physical therapy diagnosis abilities. Her areas of special focus include sport specific rehabilitation, foot orthotic evaluation and treatment, post-operative rehabilitation, scoliosis treatment, and functional rehabilitation based on the principles and strategies of Applied Functional Science® from the Gray Institute®.
Karen approaches patient care with the intention of providing top level individualized care continuously integrated with patient education, with the hope that patients quickly and safely reach and maintain their goals as they transition to their chosen level of function outside of the clinic.
Karen is a former collegiate gymnast and continues to stay active with swimming, figure skating, stand up paddle boarding, and yoga training. Karen lives in southern NH with her family and holds Gray Institute certifications in Applied Functional Science® (CAFS) and 3D Movement Analysis and Performance (3DMAPS)®, and is licensed as a physical therapist in the State of NH.
