It’s that time of year again…GO LIONS!
Preseason has wrapped up and it’s time to STAY IN THE GAME! I just spent the afternoon working with the Lurgio athletes today during their first week of training and wanted to share a quick nutrition tip. Hydration is vital to athletic performance and most athletes think proper hydration is all about H2O…nope! Ever feel sluggish during a game or activity even though you have been drinking water all day? Well, you may be doing more harm than good. In fact, if you consume all water you actually run the risk of diluting your electrolytes (sodium and potassium) which are important for energy and explosive power. A nice tip is just mix half of your water bottle with your favorite sports drink or even orange juice and the other half with water. This will help you maintain a good balance of electrolytes and H2O, and ultimately STAY IN THE GAME longer to get that winning goal!
